SEO Content Writing – Converting Artificial Keywords Into Natural Keywords.
The Role Of Keywords Within SEO.
One of the major aspects of search engine optimization (SEO) is the use of keywords both in the Meta tags of a site and throughout the website content. In particular, the density, the placement and the actual keywords themselves are hotly debated topics. It is certainly no secret that keywords play a vital part to any good SEO program, but because search engines like Google and many others change their algorithms on such a regular basis it may seem difficult to keep up with the current best practice. However, there are some good general guidelines to follow that should always ring true regardless of how you personally approach SEO.
Staying Ahead Of SEO.
Ok, Im not trying to say you can actually see in the future and know what google or any of the other search engines are going to do or change so that you can get top spot’s every single time, but instead teach you the rules that you should not break in term’s of SEO. If you do break them then google will both ignore your content but also can actually go as far as penalizing you too.
Spamming!
Spam is a big no no! You don’t like it, your dad doesn’t like it and nor does google. In the beginning you could get top rankings for any keywords just by putting the keywords all over your site as many times as possible, the more times you had it the higher your rank on google. This was called keyword stuffing or cramming but luckily for you is completely frowned upon and instead of helping your site it will instead cause it to not even be seen by google. Keep the content nice and if it’s something you would read then google is going to like it too.
So, What Is The ‘Correct’ Keyword Density Then?
This of course leads to the question posed by both seo experts, webmasters and content writers which is what is considered spam. The general consensus is that making sure your keyword is included between 5% to 10% was the best method and keyword density to use. This density would not get you penalized and yet still makes sure your site is obviously relevant to that topic. But other’s believe that it can be taken to as high as 20% without any negative effects to your site by the search engines.
Err On The Side Of Caution.
While these high densities of around 20% may not have got you penalized at one time it is increasingly likely that they will be regarded as being geared primarily towards search engines. Search engines do not want to display sites that are created for this purpose; their aim is to display websites that are geared towards visitors. As such, sticking to a lower percentage is likely to produce better results for you.
Not Crossing The Line.
What you want to be doing is combining informative and helpful content along with your keyword and make sure it appeals both to your visitor and the search engines itself.
What Are Natural Keywords And Artificial Keywords?
Natural keywords are basically just keywords that you end up using on your own when you are writing an article on a specific subject. They are the keywords that just keep cropping up but these are not always the best keywords to be using. For example the keyphrase ’search engine optimization’ may be searched a lot but then the competition and amount of other people using that search term in their content is most likely in the millions. So changing it slightly and writing on ‘how to do search engine optimization’ will have less searches but will also have alot less competition and thus increases your chances of getting top position in the search engines.
Replacing Natural Keywords With Artificial Keywords.
What you now want to do is go back through that article and see what keyword appears a lot of times and then replace it with the longer one. Sometimes this might not make the article flow however with a few more edits to the text around it too then it will soon make a lot of sense and be based on the keyword with the correct density.
Starting Again With Your Artificial Keyword.
If you don’t like the sound of re-writing an article then instead get the keyword in your head first and then write the content around that keyphrase and with that keyphrase in the front of your mind at all times. While thinking about that keyphrase the content will be a lot easier to write and including your keyphrase in the article will come naturally.
The Result Of Keyword Conversion.
Converting your artificial keywords into the natural keywords will mean that your pages are both built for the search engines and will give you top rankings but also are built for your readers too. This will increase both your traffic and the conversion rates of that traffic and result in an increase in your income too.
