How to Avoid Internet Marketing Burnout
Most people start out in internet marketing extremely gung ho. They can’t wait to get started. They have spent weeks or even months finding the perfect online business and now they can’t wait to be unleashed. They have already been imagining what they are going to do with their first big check. Maybe take the family on a dream vacation or buy a new car. Now fast forward 6 months from now. That same internet marketer may curse the day that he even considered working online. This type of scenario is not uncommon. People begin with high hopes, only to see them dashed later on.
Internet marketing can be a cruel business. It can promise you the world, and fail to deliver. Many people are ready to quit when those systems promising big bucks with minimal work don’t exactly pan out. Instead, individuals may find themselves working 12-14 hours a day trying to make them work. Rather then do less work then they would at a traditional, 9-5 job, they end up working much more, at least at the beginning. Internet marketing burnout is real and it must be managed if individuals are committed to making it online. Below, are some tips to help you avoid internet marketing burnout.
a. Have Realistic Expectations: Keep in mind that at the beginning stages of your online business, you may be required to invest a great deal of time. There may be some nights where you don’t get much sleep and days when you are swamped. This is often because you are just figuring out what you are supposed to be doing. After some time, the same project that took you 6 hours, will only take you 1. You will start getting the hang of things and subsequently, your workload will get lighter. If you understand this going in, you are less likely to become burned out because you have already prepared yourself mentally for what it is going to take to move your IM business forward. Understand that your internet marketing business is like any other business you will need to invest time and energy. There really is no way around this.
b. Create A Schedule: You will need to create a schedule and set aside time for family, friends and yourself. If is very easy to become immersed in what you are doing and not want to pull yourself away until you are finished. If you find that you have extra work to complete or you just have to finish a project, do it on your own time, after everyone else is asleep. Early in the morning or late or night, are both good times and allows you to get some extra work done without offending anyone.
c. Take Time Off: It is very important that you don’t work 7 days a week. You have to take some time off. It will help keep you refreshed. You will find that you will be able to think more clearly and have more energy when you spend some time away from your business.
d. Reward Yourself: Make sure that you reward yourself for a job well done. You don’t have to go out and blow a lot of money. Instead order your favorite dessert or go to a movie. Doing little things like this will help keep you motivated and happy.
