Video Marketing Case Study – Week 3

It’s week three of the video case study and things are going quite well. The traffic is still very low, however it is picking up a bit.  So far my squeeze page has received 67 unique visitors and 4 subscribers.  OK, yea I know these are crazy low numbers, but remember, this traffic is exclusively from video traffic which has been my strategy – to generate traffic exclusively from videos which I’ve submitted to video sharing sites.

This HAS been my strategy, but when I begin this case study three weeks ago, I had forgotten about how search engines rank sites.  Search Engines like to see links from a variety of sources.  If Google, for example, notices that a particular site has one-way links which are from one source (e.g. social networking), it may de-index that site, which would totally blow my efforts out of the water should I continue as previously planned.

That being stated, although video marketing will make-up the majority links pointing to my squeeze page, I will be implementing a few other linking strategies including article marketing, directories and 3-way links in order to satisfy the search engines.  My plan is to make some nice coin from this experiment, so I can’t afford to jeopardize my work.  Flexibility is the key!

Since I will be measuring results carefully, I should be able to accurately measure the effectiveness of my video marketing efforts.  One thing that is quite promising is the fact that in only three short weeks, I have 1290 backlinks pointing to the site.  Not bad for just three short weeks.
