Creating a Product Launch Checklist – Part I
A product launch checklist is a very important tool in your marketing toolbox. If you launch a new product or service, it can be an exciting, yet very busy time. In the hectic planning, it is very easy to overlook details while trying to get your product on the market.
Some of the things you need to adopt into your checklist include: (1) a focus on your target group, (2) training of your employees and (3) providing special offers or trials (for memberships).
In this blog post we’ll look at these steps and why they are so important.
1. It is vital that you aim at your target audience. There’s an old saying, “if you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time”. Unfortunately, when we aim at “nothing” we reap “nothing”. Therefore, you need to define the best performance of your product or service and then actively market to the demographic that is looking for it. Each product has a specific target group and it is a big mistake not to determine this before you start.
2. The people who promote your product or service are on the front line of your company and in turn, they are the face of your company. You must fully train all your employees or affiliates, so they fully understand all aspects of your product and are prepared to tackle every possible customer service scenario.
3. Show your customers a sample or demonstration of you product or service. Make sure that your demo is available prior to your launch so that when you your promotion goes live, people are ready to purchase.
Convince yourself of your product pricing policy. You have to get your pricing and makes it before your start date. Like the demos, this is your customers the opportunity to decide whether your product is right for them and increase the chances of making sales, when you start.
Create product promotions and promote co-op advertising opportunities. If other companies are ready to help promote your introduction and realize how they can benefit from that promotion, you can reach a larger base with less effort. Why not take advantage of this great win-win opportunity.
In the next post, I’ll cover a few other things to include in your product launch checklist.
